Writing with Confidence

"Writing with Confidence" is a full-year, one-credit English language arts course for 9th to 12th-grade students, led by Angela Ferrell. This college-preparatory course focuses on developing advanced writing skills, culminating in an in-depth research paper, and is well-suited for students planning to attend post-secondary education. Students will progress from writing five-paragraph essays to compare and contrast papers, and finally, a scholarly research paper. They will learn research methods, how to avoid plagiarism, and proper use of MLA and APA formats. This course emphasizes not just writing proficiency but also life skills like diligence, initiative, and critical thinking. Grades will primarily come from weekly writing assignments, progressing from outline to essay, with varying levels of workload.
