Writing for Elementary School (Writing 6 Prep)

This summer writing workshop is a relaxed online course that focuses on improving students' skills in various types of writing, including expository, descriptive, persuasive, narrative, and creative" writing. The course also helps students discover and enhance their reading abilities and develop strategies to become better writers. Through peer collaboration, students learn to write more effectively for their audience, with instruction that covers both the mechanical structure of an essay and narrative elements like characterization, plot development, and individual creative expression. Projects in the course include creating a storyboard, solving a mystery, looking for secondary meanings, writing a poem, creating an animal, and conceiving an invention. This class provides an opportunity for students to meet friends from around the world and prepare for the next school year while practicing their writing skills.

The course is structured as a summer workshop, with weekly practice, evaluation, and feedback in writing skills related to the course. However, it is not a credit course and does not provide a final grade or credit. It is not a prerequisite for any other courses and is intended to strengthen foundational writing skills.
