Writing and Rhetoric 5

"Writing & Rhetoric Year 5" is an advanced English composition course designed for students with a strong foundation in writing, typically ranging from eighth to ninth graders. Building upon the progymnasmata series, students in this year-long course (equivalent to one high school credit) will delve into two key units: Description & Impersonation, and Thesis Part 1. In the first semester, they'll hone their descriptive writing skills and explore impersonation, learning to persuade through the styles of notable figures. The second semester introduces the thesis essay, with an initial focus on understanding beauty. Throughout the course, students will refine their skills in reading, discussion, composition, and delivery, with a focus on persuasive techniques and rhetorical devices.
