About this Course
The course, "Writing & Rhetoric Year 3," is the fifth and sixth book in a series designed for rising 6th-7th graders, focusing on persuasive writing and speaking. In this year-long program, students begin by learning to refute or defend parts of narratives based on their believability, then apply these skills to write refutations or confirmations. In the second semester, they delve into writing six-paragraph essays arguing against common vices and in favor of common virtues, honing skills like thesis support, comparison, annotation, and oral delivery. Students are expected to write one essay per week and participate in peer editing. Though not required, typed essays are preferred, and external grammar support is advised for students without a strong command of grammar.
