Writing and Rhetoric 1

The online course offerings to students in 4th-5th grade a comprehensive writing curriculum guided by the award-winning Writing & Rhetoric series. The year-long course is divided into two semesters, each focusing on specific genres and skills. The first semester, based on 'Book 1: Fable,' introduces students to the art of fable writing. It emphasizes close reading, comprehension, summary, and amplification techniques. Through dictation exercises and imitating texts, students strengthen their working memory and language comprehension. The second semester, 'Book 2: Narrative I,' builds upon the first semester by delving into longer stories, stretching students' writing capabilities. Key concepts introduced include main idea, character traits, plot, dialogue, and description.
