World Literature

This online course, taught by instructor Lili Serbicki, offers a comprehensive study of world literature. Students can expect to examine literary works from various parts of the globe, focusing on historical and cultural contexts. The course aims to make connections between local concerns and universal questions, struggles, and epiphanies. It covers a variety of literary eras, cultures, and settings through full-length works, short stories, and creative nonfiction supplements. The course structure includes live meetings via Zoom, web forum discussions, weekly homework, four longer papers, a creative project, and cumulative semester exams.

The course is suggested for 11th and 12th grade students and is excellent for those who have taken AP English Literature or British or American Lit. Communication is maintained through weekly updates to parents, and instructors are available via Canvas messenger for queries. The course requires high-speed internet, a sound card, microphone, and streaming video capabilities. Evaluation and feedback are provided through written comments on written projects.
