About this Course
The World History II course is a live, graded class that covers the social, economic, and political development of societies around the world from the 1600s to the present. The course includes both non-Western and Western societies, with a particular focus on the role of technology and scientific discoveries. Live class sessions are complemented by audio-visual or text-based lessons, geography exercises, and primary document interpretations. The course is structured around eight units, with live class sessions and homework assignments planned on a regular schedule.
Students are expected to spend 4-5 hours per week on the course, but for families seeking a more challenging honors-level course, additional homework and testing expectations can be added. Honors students will complete a significant project each semester, including reading a pre-approved book and writing a thesis paper, as well as completing additional lessons and generating historical research questions. The course is recommended for 10th-12th graders, although mature 9th graders may also be considered.
