About this Course

"World Geography" is a full-year advanced course designed for high school students, especially those in grades 8-12. Taught by Becky Lundgren, the class meets on Mondays from 10:15-11:15 CST. Throughout the year, students will embark on a virtual global journey investigating the physical features, cultures, economies, and political systems of various regions. Key topics include physical geography, human geography, economic and political geography, and environmental challenges. Students will enhance their critical thinking and spatial analysis skills through interpretation of geographic data, evaluation of global issues, and regional case studies, all facilitated by dynamic multimedia resources, interactive maps, and projects. The course encourages active participation, flexibility, and a global perspective, with technology integration at various levels of the SAMR model.

The course requires a license for Guest Hollows' World Geography course, access to a well-running computer for Google Earth opportunities, and uses an online textbook supplemented by numerous digital resources. Each family needs to purchase the course license, and while printing materials is not required, students will utilize many digital links and data provided.
