About this Course

The Nomadic Professor offers a 2-semester online U.S. History course, entitled "To Begin the World Over Again" and "The Noise of Democracy," for students in grades 9-12. This Honors course will be taught by instructor Sarah Jackson, starting in June 2024 with rolling admission at the beginning of each month. Students must complete the course within 10 months, and they will engage with source material ranging from primary historical sources to contemporary sources like Internet articles and social media posts. The course aims to help students become masters of American history and source material analysis while promoting nuanced thinking and contextual understanding.

The 32-week course requires approximately 1 hour of daily work, with some weeks demanding up to 1.5 hours due to the reading and source material. Students should expect to attend live classes with cameras on, and the course will be conducted using high-speed, broadband Internet and streaming video capabilities. This Honors course is designed for students following an Honors track in grades 9-12 and encourages students to think deeply and carefully about the subject matter.
