About this Course

The Nomadic Professor’s American History Part 2: The Noise of Democracy is a 1-semester course designed to help students master American history from the Constitution through the Reconstruction period and become proficient in analyzing source material. This self-paced course is offered to high school students in grades 9-12 and is an Honors level course. The course consists of weekly readings, on-location videos, end-of-unit document lessons, and a research paper. Students should expect to dedicate approximately 1 hour of work per school day, with some weeks requiring up to 1.5 hours of work due to the reading and source material. The course is not cohort-based, and students have about a 4-week window to submit each assignment.

This course is suitable for students who are following an Honors track in high school and have a strong interest in history. The course has a rolling admission that starts at the beginning of each month, and students can choose the month they would like to start the course. Students are required to have high-speed broadband internet, streaming video capabilities, PDF software, and email access. The course cost includes extra hours for outside-class research and teacher feedback. The Nomadic Professor will be available for email and prearranged video calls during working hours for any questions or concerns.
