About this Course

This online course offers a comprehensive study of the history, functions, and relationships of the U.S. federal government within local and global contexts. It begins by exploring the origins of American liberty and the unique concept of liberty held by the U.S. founding fathers. The course then delves into the formation and structure of the U.S. government, including the Constitution as it was originally written and its interpretation today. Students will examine the roles of the three branches of government, how they act as checks and balances, and the modern departmental structure.

Additionally, the course covers state and local government structures, their interrelation with the federal government and each other, as well as international relations and policies, ultimately addressing the challenges facing the U.S. government and other national governments today. This course satisfies the U.S. Government requirement for high school students and could be paired with other courses for a full-year Civics course or a U.S. Government and Law course from a conservative academic perspective.
