About this Course

The online course, U. S. Government, begins with an exploration of political orders, delving into the historical roots of American democratic ideals in ancient Greek, Roman, and British traditions. Students will analyze key texts, including Plato's Republic, Aristotle's Politics, and British historical documents, to build a solid foundation. Subsequently, the course focuses on American founding documents, Supreme Court cases, legislation, and presidential doctrines, tracing the evolution of the political system across the continent and its global influence. The course is structured across two separate semesters, fall and spring, with different topics covered in each, allowing students to take either semester independently or combine both for a year-long study. It meets many states' high school graduation requirements for U. S. Government. High school students may earn 1/2 U.S. Government credit upon completion.
