About this Course
This course is designed to fulfill common state requirements for a semester each of government and economics, integrating both subjects through a lens of biblical principles. The first semester focuses on government, starting with God's Creation Covenant and delving into the four basic forms of government, with an emphasis on civil government. Students study theological and philosophical texts, and original documents to understand the functioning of civil government, particularly in the United States.
The second semester explores economics, evaluating core economic principles from a biblical perspective. Students apply these principles to understand the U.S. economy and the roles and boundaries between the different forms of government, all within the context of mankind's role in creation. The course content covers topics such as God's Creation Covenant, the authority relationships in civil government, the U.S. Constitution's historical context, and thematic connections between liberty, government, and economics. It is suggested for grades 10-12 and typically requires 2-3 hours of weekly homework.
