US Acrylic Iconography Workshop | Fall

This fall, an online course is offered centered around creating an icon portrait of St. Olga of Alaska using acrylic paints. Over the semester, students will dedicate each session to their main icon, supplemented by various artistic skill-building activities. The course begins with prayer and a brief presentation related to iconography or the subject at hand. Students will learn to mix and apply acrylic paint, rendering the saint with highlights and line work. The course follows a three-year cycle, focusing on different skills each year such as color, tone, facial features, Byzantine lettering, and painting lines. In 2024, the focus will be on color: color mixing, theory, and working with a set of colors.
