About this Course

The Growing Church: Medieval World is a full-year, family-friendly survey course offered by the Aquinas House of Studies, focusing on Catholic history during the Middle Ages. Starting from the Council of Nicaea (325 AD) and concluding with the Council of Trent (1550s), the course provides a comprehensive overview of medieval history while fostering a deeper appreciation for the Catholic Church. Students will engage with various humanities, including History, Literature, Geography, Sacred Art, and Theology, using the engaging "The Story of Civilization Volume 2" as their primary text. Moreover, they will read two Catholic-themed novels, one each semester, and participate in interactive class activities such as sacred art viewing, group discussions, timeline memorization, geography games, and primary source analysis.
