Story of the Middle Ages

The "Story of the Middle Ages" is a full-year online course that explores history from the fall of the Roman Empire to the beginnings of the Renaissance. The course uses a weekly textbook reading as the foundation, with live sessions focusing on interactive reviews and discussions to reinforce learning and delve deeper into historical events. Group activities, such as creating crossword puzzles or writing quiz questions, provide opportunities for collaboration and active engagement with the material.

Throughout the year, students work on developing writing skills through writing summaries, practicing critical thinking by analyzing primary sources, and learning to organize readings into a 3-level outline. Weekly open-book quizzes help students prepare for closed-book tests. The course may be taken out of sequence with the "Story of Ancient Times," and both courses are recommended for early-stage logic-age students seeking a challenging learning experience.
