About this Course

"Spanish 4" is an intensive, full-year course designed for high school students, typically grades 9-12, who have completed Spanish III or have equivalent language proficiency. It focuses on advanced grammar, vocabulary, writing, speaking, and listening skills, with a strong emphasis on verbal competence. Students will also develop cultural understanding, study skills, and technology usage. Coursework is equivalent to one foreign language credit. Key assessment areas include vocabulary, class participation, and spoken language skills. By the end of the course, students should be able to engage in complex conversations, use correct expressions relevant to Spanish-speaking countries, understand common spoken expressions, and have memorized over 1100 words/phrases/sentences.

The course uses the "Breaking the Spanish Barrier, level 2" book and is taught by a True North Academy teacher. It can be bundled with courses like Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, or U.S. Literature and Composition for a comprehensive high school learning experience.
