Spanish 1 Language and Culture

This online course is a comprehensive program designed to build a strong foundation in spoken and written Spanish for high school students. The course content includes various activities such as vocabulary exercises, reading, cultural elements, grammar drills, audio comprehension, and pronunciation lessons. The primary focus of the live class sessions is to enhance speaking and understanding skills through practical Spanish conversations. Evaluation is based on written compositions, quizzes, exams, and recorded spoken submissions.

The course is offered at two levels: standard and honors, with the main difference being the number of live class sessions per week. The standard level offers one live class per week, while the honors level offers two live classes per week, resulting in higher proficiency in Spanish after completing the honors course. This course is also open to eighth-grade students, provided they are prepared for high school-level rigor, pace, and evaluation standards.
