About this Course

CLRC's Songwriting course, offered in the Fall semester, is designed to enhance the skills of aspiring songwriters. Students will dive into the fundamentals of songwriting, including song form, rhyme scheme, and melodic patterns. Throughout the course, they will benefit from Mrs. Scott's mentorship and feedback, as well as collaborative input from their peers. By the end of the semester, students will have achieved three notable accomplishments: writing an original lyric sheet, composing an original song, and recording/filming their final performance.

To participate, students are required to have access to basic equipment: a recording microphone, editing software, and a camera (a smartphone can be used for all these purposes), as well as a computer and their preferred instrument. While not explicitly stated as a prerequisite, the course recommends a proficiency on a secondary instrument like piano or guitar.
