About this Course

This course, suited for high school students and advanced middle schoolers, is a semester-long exploration of early philosophy, from the pre-Socratics to Plotinus. It seeks to challenge the perception of philosophy as dull or useless, instead presenting it as a practical tool for clear thinking and understanding diverse viewpoints. Over the semester, students will engage with major figures like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, tracing the development of philosophical ideas and their impact on the worldviews of various eras. The course is offered through the Aquinas House but is open to all students interested in philosophy, regardless of their religious affiliation.
