Recorder, General Music and the Orthodox Tradition

This one-year course, possibly part of a series, is designed for students to appreciate and create music, with a focus on the beauty of God's creation and Orthodox music tradition. Students will develop their musicianship through playing recorder, singing, and understanding basic music theory, including note values, rhythm, and scales. The curriculum covers classical music appreciation and music history. By the end of the year, students will be able to play melodies on the recorder, read simple sheet music, and complete a basic music composition journal. The course may include projects on specific topics of interest and requires students to comfortably perform music with their peers.
