Reading in Action 5

This online reading course, taught by a reading and literacy expert, is designed to transform students from passive readers to active learners. The course uses direct instruction, modeling, guided practice, class discussion, and shared reading to help students engage more deeply with a variety of text types, including realistic fiction, fantasy, fables, folktales, poetry, and nonfiction. Students learn to apply specific comprehension strategies, reflect on their understanding, and communicate their ideas through projects, responses, and discussions. The course is part of a complete elementary language arts program when combined with Writing 5 Adventures or Writing 6 Exploration. However, it is important to note that this course does not specifically prepare students for other TPS courses or fulfill the English prerequisites for any TPS courses.
