Reading Foundations 3: Growing Readers

The "Get to Know Reading Foundations" course, led by Angelique Chaverri, is designed for pre-literate children and their parents, meeting twice weekly for an hour each session. The class focuses on building foundational reading skills, including introducing two to three new phonogram sounds per class, teaching letter formation and posture, and enhancing sound discrimination. Parents play an active role, participating in class and implementing weekly activities at home, with progress and reflections uploaded to the class platform. The first half of each class session is dedicated to student instruction, followed by a Q&A for parents, discussing developmental activities and preventing learning difficulties. After initially concentrating on alphabet phonograms and activities, the course progresses to multi-letter phonograms and spelling words, which are introduced and tested within the week.
