About this Course

The "Reading Foundations" course is a short-term, small group program designed for young children beginning their reading journey. Over eight weeks, it offers explicit and systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, the alphabetic principle, and phonics skills, aiming to boost independence, confidence, and fluency in reading and writing. The course meets twice weekly for two hours, with an additional two hours of parental guidance required for practice. It incorporates low-tech, multi-sensory learning materials like magnetic letters and dry erase boards to mimic an in-person classroom. With a limited class size of 5-7 students and opportunities for one-on-one instruction, the course begins on October 2nd and concludes on November 22nd.
