About this Course

The "Reading for the Logic Stage IIA" is a full-year course that focuses on engaging logic-stage students in reading and literary discussion at a relaxed pace. Students attend a weekly class with an instructor to discuss the week's reading, using prompts provided by the instructor to guide the discussion. The course goes at about half the pace of the Level II offering, making it suitable for students who enjoy reading at a more leisurely pace. The course aims to inspire a love of reading, introduce students to a range of texts, and touch on the foundations of literary analysis. It is the second course in a three-level sequence and continues to build on the skills learned in the first course. The course also introduces students to major literary terms and devices, and encourages students to identify them in the course texts. Students are provided with opportunities to serve as discussion facilitators throughout the semester.
