About this Course

"Poetry Explorers: Words, Pictures & Writing Part I" is a flexible, two-semester course (Part I in the Fall and Part II in the Spring) designed for young beginners in poetry. Students can enroll for the entire year or just one semester. The course requires independent reading and writing skills, as well as a one-hour class attention span. Using "The Random House Book of Poetry for Children" and Orthodox hymnography, students explore themes of nature and the world around them. They delve into sound, rhythm, cadence, rhyme, and various poetry genres, like "Nature", "The Four Seasons", and "The Ways of Living Things". The coursework includes the Akathist Hymn "Glory to God for All Things", encouraging creative writing and sharing.
