Physical Science – The Science of Superheroes!

The "Physical Science – The Science of Superheroes!" course is a year-long (2025-2026) Physical Science program instructed by Melissa Grande, catering to 8th to 10th graders. It runs on Thursdays at 10:15 CT. The engaging curriculum explores physics and chemistry concepts through the lens of superhero movies, demystifying the science behind extraordinary powers and technologies. The coursework includes designing a superhero character, trading card creation, and a semester-end science fair showcasing movie-inspired experiments and projects. Students will enhance lab skills, maintain science notebooks, and earn 1 science credit and 0.5 lab credit upon completion.

Prerequisites involve a junior high-level science and math course, along with specific lab report and notebook resources. The course incorporates technology through the SAMR model, using digital tools for research, simulations, collaborations, and creative assignments.
