About this Course

Personal Finance is a high school course that combines real-life scenarios with engaging, hands-on activities to teach students essential financial skills. Through simulated decision-making processes like buying a car, investing, and retirement planning, students develop critical thinking and strategic planning abilities. Notably, the course includes a stock market game, enabling students to understand investing in stocks and mutual funds and how the market connects to current events. This one-semester course, equivalent to a half credit, is designed to be taught by a True North Academy teacher, and it can be paired with other senior high courses, such as Career Exploration and Economics.
