Online Summer Reading Club
About this Course
The WTMA Summer Reading Club is a discussion-based course designed for high-school students to engage with rhetoric-stage peers and an instructor in reading and talking about various texts over the summer break. The course is non-evaluative, with no formal written assignments, and requires only class attendance and participation, along with reading the assigned texts. Students who attend all 8 sessions will receive a course t-shirt. Participation can be either live or through watching the recording and completing a discussion board response. Students are encouraged to be discussion facilitators, bringing two open-ended questions about the text to the meeting.
This course is not offered during the 2024-2025 school year. It is important to note that some readings contain mature themes and scenarios, and therefore, may not be suitable for younger or more sensitive readers. Parents and students are encouraged to review the texts before enrolling.
