About this Course
This is a one-semester online course that focuses on Greek and Roman myths as told by ancient authors such as Hesiod, Homer, and Ovid. The course will explore how these ancient civilizations used myths to understand the world around them and what the myths reveal about their cultures. It will also compare classical mythology to other traditions, examine its impact on later literature, art, and culture, and guide students to identify elements of mythology in the modern world. By the end of the course, students will apply their knowledge to create their own modern myths. The course is designed for middle and high school students and will be offered during the 2025-2026 school year. Parents should be aware that the textbook contains additional content that they may consider objectionable.
