About this Course
The online Music Theory B course is a full-year course that builds on the fundamentals of tonal harmony learned in Music Theory A. This course focuses on advanced concepts such as scales, chords, intervals, and their applications in music analysis. Students will enhance their aural skills through solfege, melodic and harmonic dictation, and ear training exercises. Additionally, the course will develop students' ability to visually analyze music and create an aural map of what they will hear. Composition techniques and real-life applications of the skills learned will be practiced, with students expected to perform on their own musical instruments.
Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to take the Grade 8 exam from the ABRSM and the Level 9 RCM exam. The prerequisite for this course is Music Theory A.
