Music III

"Music III: Luther and the Chorale" is an advanced music course focusing on specific historical periods and figures. It begins with a study of Martin Luther and his influence on music, delving into early kantors and Bach's compositions set in modal chorale tunes. The course then widens its scope to explore Gregorian, Anglican, and other chant methods as found in modern hymnals. Before embarking on this in-depth exploration, students first grasp the fundamentals with an introduction to Church Modes, drawn from Medieval and Renaissance timelines. The course is led by Rev. Thomas Lock.
