MS Acrylic Iconography Workshop | Fall

The online course, "Middle School Iconography Workshop: Saint Olga of Alaska," is a structured art program designed specifically for students aged 9 to 12. Over the fall term, students will learn to paint an icon of Saint Olga of Alaska using acrylic paint, mirroring the approach of upper school workshops but tailored to their age range. Each session, students will work on their main icon while also exploring other artistic skills. The course begins with prayer and a short presentation related to the iconography or the subject, after which students learn to mix and apply acrylic paint, rendering the saint with highlights and linework. Additionally, the course follows a 3-year skill cycle focusing on color, tone and value, facial features, Byzantine lettering, and painting lines, ensuring that students who join at different points will have unique learning experiences.
