About this Course
This online course is a two-part, year-long program that teaches drawing using the Monart method, created by Mona Brookes. The method focuses on training students to perceive and transcribe five basic shape elements to paper, enabling anyone to develop realistic drawing skills and a unique artistic style. The course is structured for children aged 6-12 and is designed to improve visual perception and critical thinking.
Part 1 (Fall Semester) covers encourgaging drawing attitudes, workspace preparation, and progressive levels of drawing from contour shapes to still life and volume drawing. Part 2 (Spring Semester) continues with exploring different shape families, drawing styles (such as abstract, symbolic, and realistic), and elements of design. The goal is to enhance students' drawing confidence and prepare them for further art courses.
