Medieval History

The course, suitable for 9th to 12th graders (ages 14-18), offers an engaging journey through medieval European history from the late Roman Empire to the late Middle Ages. Students explore key events, figures, and cultural developments, including the rapid Christianization, Barbarian invasions, Carolingian restructuring, and significant later medieval periods. It introduces students to diverse perspectives, such as those from the Byzantine and Islamic empires, and covers intriguing historical figures and legends. The course requires no formal prerequisites but recommends students to be proficient in reading challenging texts and writing grammatically complete sentences. Suggested pre-course readings are "Famous Men of the Middle Ages" or "Book of The Middle Ages". Required materials include the textbook "A History of Medieval Europe", student guide, and a headset microphone for communication.
