Math Accelerated 6

This online course is a capstone course in the TPS Accelerated Math program, designed for grade 6 students who have previously used the Singapore Math curriculum. The course aim is to develop students' mathematical problem-solving skills and prepare them for higher level mathematics and science courses. The curriculum is structured to move from concrete to pictorial to symbolic representations of mathematical concepts, and it covers a wide range of topics such as algebraic expressions, negative numbers, solving equations, graphing functions, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, geometry, and probability. The course emphasizes reasoning, finding patterns, mental math, and applying concepts throughout the course. It also includes teacher-led discussions and group work to facilitate student discovery and foster an appreciation for mathematics. This course is a prerequisite for TPS Pre-Algebra, Algebra and honors-level math courses.
