Latin II

Latin II is a comprehensive, year-long course aimed at students who have already completed Latin I. This full-year program builds upon the foundation established in Latin I, deeper exploring Latin grammar, vocabulary, and cultural context. Students will delve into topics such as nouns and adjectives, possessive pronouns and prepositions, and various verb conjugations, including the Present and Perfect Indicative systems. Core materials include a student text, workbook, quizzes, tests, and additional study helps.

Through this course, students will amass approximately 300 new vocabulary words, engage in weekly translation exercises, converse in spoken Latin, and commit to memory Latin sayings and prayers. Unique features include several self-directed projects that merge Latin grammar with its broader cultural and linguistic context. Additionally, students will explore translations from the Latin Vulgate and engage with mini-lessons on key Roman and Medieval authors through 'Latinist Spotlight' lessons, culminating in a monologue delivered in class. This course also facilitates the development of effective study habits, contributing to a well-rounded, detail-oriented learning approach.
