Latin II

The online course "Latin II" is a full-year course that continues the study of Latin, building on the foundation established in Latin I. It aims to excite students about Latin and prepare them for further study in high school or college. The course uses excerpts from Latin texts to provide a rich reading of Roman history and culture, with a focus on reading, understanding, and interpreting Latin, as well as deepening understanding of Latin grammar. The course aligns with the World-readiness Standards for Learning Languages from the ACTFL, covering communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and global competency skills.

The course does not offer a delayed section, as live interaction is key to learning language. It is recommended that students enrolling in Latin II are comfortable with the topics covered in Grammar II, although grammar instruction is not a prerequisite. A placement test is available for students to determine the appropriate grammar course for their level.
