About this Course

The Latin Club offered by Wilmington Tutoring and Matchmaking Academy (WTMA) is a one-semester online course that meets every other week for an hour. The club is designed to delve into topics of interest to Latin students, including Roman history, mythology, daily life, mottoes and abbreviations used today, and vocabulary. The club records its meetings and is open to all students.

Members of the Latin Club will be part of the National Junior Classical League (NJCL), which offers many activities, contests, and scholarships. The club also prepares students for the National Latin Exam (NLE), an annual test administered online in the spring, although students should also be taking a Latin class for optimal results. Topics covered include gods and goddesses, mythology, history, geography, housing, meals, clothing, ancient Greece, Roman technology, and modern words in Latin. The club meets bi-weekly, and students will receive an email at the start of each semester to confirm the first meeting date.
