Italian 1 Language and Culture (Honors)

This is a beginning level Italian language course designed for students with no prior knowledge of the language. The course aims to build students' confidence and enhance their enthusiasm for learning Italian, with a focus on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. By the end of the course, students should be able to communicate using simple sentences, understand written sentences and paragraphs, and make short presentations on familiar topics. Additionally, students will learn about Italian culture and geography through special research projects. This course is offered in alternating years with Italian 2, so students can plan to take both courses in consecutive years. It is a high school level course with a high school pace, workload, and standards of evaluation.
