Introduction to the Renaissance & Early Modern World

This interactive online course, named "Renaissance & Early Modern World: Power, Authority, and Dissent", investigates the socio-political and intellectual shifts that occurred during the Renaissance and Early Modern period. Students explore profound questions relating to service, sacrifice, power, authority, and rebellion through the philosophical musings, art, and historical actions of key figures like Machiavelli, Luther, Galileo, and Napoleon. The syllabus includes weekly reading and analysis of primary texts, completion of two writing assignments, a student presentation, and midterm/final assessments.
