Intermediate Illustration | Spring

The course, "Illustration II," builds upon the fundamentals of illustration, character design, color theory, and visual communication. Students will initially study and replicate works from master illustrators, then transition to independently creating projects in their chosen medium, fostering their unique illustrative style. The semester explores the relationship between text and image, culminating in a final project such as an illustrated children's book, poem series, or comic book, which requires students to develop detailed characters and settings. Throughout, students engage in hands-on studio work, critiques, and creative exercises, expressing their artistic intent through written artist statements.
