Honors English Language Arts

The course is an Honors English Language Arts course taught by Ms. Kay ben-Avraham through Pennsylvania Homeschoolers for the 2024-2025 academic year. The course is designed to prepare high school students for advanced English coursework by exposing them to a variety of genres, authors, and writing styles. The course is not NCAA approved and is not intended for students who need remedial instruction in grammar, reading comprehension, or basic writing skills. The workload is significant, with students expected to spend 5-10 hours per week on reading, writing, and discussion assignments. The course runs from September 3, 2024, to May 9, 2025, and has several breaks throughout the year. The tuition is $825 if payment is received before July 1 and $850 after that date. Auditors can join at any point during the academic year for $350. The required texts for the course are The Signet Book of American Essays, A Poetry Handbook by Mary Oliver, The Chosen by Chaim Potok, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and four additional books for independent book clubs.
