History of English – Early Semester

This online course, "The History and Evolution of the English Language," delves into the origins and development of the English language from prehistoric Germanic languages to its modern form. It explores sound changes, invasions, migrations, and the standardization of the language, covering periods from the earliest Germanic peoples to the emergence of Early Modern English. The course makes use of original texts, including some from the Bible and other Christian sources, to illustrate linguistic traits and features. It does not focus on religious content but uses these texts to demonstrate the evolution of the language.
