High School Spanish 4/5 (Honors)

The course, High School Spanish 4, is an advanced language arts course intended for fourth (and fifth) year Spanish students who have acquired proficiency in vocabulary and grammar. It primarily focuses on Spanish reading, comprehension, oral presentations, and conversation. The course is conducted primarily in Spanish, with live, online instruction for 30 hours per semester. It involves reading short stories or passages from novels, media listening, discussions, written reflections, and three major projects: a fictional story, a literary analysis, and a podcast on an approved topic. The course material varies annually, and Spanish 5 students face more challenging assignments. To supplement learning, students can prepare for the National Spanish Exam and consider enrolling in the Intercultural Spanish Conversation course.

The course awards 1 high school Language credit upon completion. It prepares students who have finished Spanish 3 or possess proficiency in most verb tenses and independent reading/writing skills in Spanish.
