About this Course
Latin 5 is an Advanced Placement (AP) Latin course designed to prepare students for the AP Latin Exam. It is approved by the College Board and covers selections from Vergil’s Aeneid and Caesar’s Commentaries on the Gallic Wars, both included in the AP syllabus. This comprehensive course includes grammar review, sight translation practice, vocabulary building, and discussions on the historical, political, and cultural context of each text. Students also learn and practice scanning dactylic hexameter and receive regular feedback and quizzes to prepare for all question types on the AP exam. Notably, a conversational 'Add-on' is available to complement the course.
Prerequisites for this course are successful completion of High School Latin 4 or permission from the instructor following a placement test.
