Latin 4 is an advanced online Latin course designed for students who have already completed Latin Grammar, equivalent to CLRC Latin 3, using textbooks like The Oxford Latin Course, Wheelock’s Latin, or other approved alternatives. It focuses on shifting from learning Latin grammar to reading, translating, and interpreting authentic Latin texts. Students will read and analyze works by various authors such as Caesar, Cicero, and Vergil. The curriculum also delves into aspects of ancient Roman culture, including religion, mythology, archaeology, and politics. Regular grammar and vocabulary reviews are incorporated into the course material. It is recommend as a preparatory year for CLRC's AP Latin class.
The course carries a high school Language credit upon completion and is open to students with CLRC Latin 3 or equivalent, or those who pass a placement test and obtain instructor approval. Additionally, a conversational 'Add-on' is available.
