Greek Reading & Literature (LS)

This online course offers instruction in Greek for children, focusing on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students will learn the Greek alphabet and build vocabulary through literature, sing Orthodox hymns, and read and speak words using syllabication. The course familiarizes students with the Koine Greek dialect, used in the New Testament and the Orthodox Church liturgy, and aims to cultivate a love for God and the Church. The curriculum uses the "Modern" or "Received" pronunciation identical to that used in the Orthodox Church today.

The course is designed for young learners and aims to develop skills through age-appropriate lessons. It covers topics ranging from reading, writing, and speaking Greek, to understanding Greek culture and history through its literature, hymns, and icons. The course is not a comprehensive study of ancient or classical Greek, but rather focuses on the dialect relevant to Orthodox Christians.
