Greek 1 (H)

"Greek 1" is an introductory course that instructs students in the ancient Greek language, focusing on Biblical (Koine) Greek, and simultaneously delves into Greek culture from the 4th and 5th centuries BCE. The curriculum covers the Greek alphabet, vocabulary, grammar, syntax, and pronunciation, with practical application in translating texts from ancient Greek literature like Homer's Odyssey and the New Testament. Students develop speaking and listening skills alongside reading proficiency. The course fee includes participation in national exams such as the National Classical Etymology Exam and the National Greek Exam, with a suggested grade level of 9-12. Prior exposure to Latin is recommended but not required.
