About this Course

Great Books 4 is the culminating course in the Great Books program, following Great Books 1, 2, and 3. It builds upon the existing foundation of discussing and analyzing primary sources from various eras. This full-year course focuses on major texts from the Renaissance up to the modern era. Like its predecessors, it encourages critical thinking through weekly responses to textual questions and reflective prompts, as well as longer essays in various formats, including literary analysis, persuasion, and creativity. Students also refine their composition skills and proper citation.

Prerequisites for this course are Great Books 1 and Great Books 2, or equivalent courses with the same book list taken elsewhere, such as Schola Academy.
